Everything you need to know

  1. The online application is for admissions to Health Science UG NCAHP programs offered in SRM IST Chennai (Kattankulathur).
  2. The admission process is based on merit, considering the aggregate marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) in the 12th standard.
  3. Application Form Fee is Rs. 1200/- and it is Non-Refundable.
  4. Candidates are advised to carefully select their first program preference, as it will be considered for admission.
  5. Email ID submitted at the time of registration will be used for all correspondence until enrolment is completed. Change in Email ID will NOT be permitted under any circumstances.

  •  Program Overview :
  • Bachelors in Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology is a 4 year degree programme that covers all facets of the techniques and methods used to diagnose and treat people with hearing, speech, and balance-related impairments. In-depth studies of diseases associated with speaking and hearing are conducted in this course, after which students receive training in how to treat these conditions and aid patients in recovering.

    1. Canditates seeking admission to the B.ASLP program should have passed 10+2 examination or an equivalent examination conducted by the Pre-University Board of Education or an equivalent Board of State or Central Government securing a minimum of 50% marks.
    2. The applicants/canditates should have studied any two or more subjects in the Science Stream in the qualifying examination.
    3. The eligibility of persons with disability shall be assessed by a committee consisting of an expert in Speech Language Pathology, Audiology, Clinical Psychology, Paediatrics and Otolaryngology, among others.
    4. In general, admission of students under "Disability Category" for the B.ASLP program shall be governed by the same guidelines (No.U.14021-8-2023-UGMEB/dated the 12th June 2023) issued by the National Medical Commission for admission of students under "Disability Category" to the MBBS program.
    5. Foreign applicants shall obtain equivalency certificate from the Association of Indian Universities.

  • The Bachelor of Optometry is a 5 Years (4 Years + 1 Year Internship) degree program focused on the study of Optometry. The curriculum is designed to impart knowledge related to eye and it's connected organs, the correction of refractive errors, and the treatment and management of eye diseases. This degree comprises four years of education including one year of clinical internship at our tertiary care hospital. This degree is the minimum required qualification to be called as an optometrist, and to practice optometry (which includes tasks like prescribing spectacles, contact lenses, eye medicines etc) in India and around the world.

    1. For He/she has completed 17 years of age at the time of admission or will complete that age on or before 31 December of the year of his/her admission to the first year of the Undergraduate Allied and Healthcare Course.
    2. Candidate must have passed Senior Secondary (10+2) or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Mathematics with 50% Marks.
    3. Admission on the basis of Senior Secondary (10 + 2) Merit.
    4. Medical fitness certificate is mandatory to submit and is to be endorsed by Governmnent medical officer.
    5. Foreign students' admission process in Under Graduate (UG)/ Post Graduation (PG)/ PhD:
      a. Foreign national students intending to study UG/PG program in India, shall have to take equivalence certificate of eligibility certificate from respective state Allied and Healthcare Council.
      b. For Under Graduate/ Post Graduation/ PhD admission of foreign national students, merit list will be based on University Entrance Exam.
      c. If eligibility criteria of admission is NEET appeared then the foreign national student is require to appear in NEET
      d. Verification of Valid Visa and valid Visa duration of foreign national students, to be verified by respetive institution & university before enrolling students for program.
    6. The admission criteria shall be updated by the Commission from time to time.

  • Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) is a four-and-half-year undergraduate program designed to introduce students to treatment methods that focuses on the science of movement. This science makes use of thermotherapy, electrotherapy, shockwave therapy, evidence-based kinesiology and exercise prescription to treat intermittent/chronic conditions of the bones and soft tissues. Physiotherapy or physical therapy is an allied health profession that is concerned with identifying and maximizing quality of life and movement potential within the spheres of promotion, prevention, treatment/intervention, habilitation, and rehabilitation. A physical therapist’s job involves helping patients to recover and/or rehabilitate from a state of having been incapacitated from neurological, musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary, sports, geriatrics, and oncology impairments among others. He/she has the responsibility to help restore the patient’s body to its optimal functioning level. They are also key health professionals in the prevention of injuries including on-field sports injuries and treat the reactions and responses of the body to injury, disease, or abnormalities in development. Physiotherapy practice is characterized by reflective behavior and systematic clinical reasoning, both contributing to and underpinning a problem-solving approach to patient-centric care. Physiotherapy is an autonomous profession, which means physiotherapists can operate as members of the health service provider or rehabilitation teams or as independent practitioners who can accept referrals from a range of sources, including from an individual themselves (self-referral) or from other people often as a member of a team with other health or social care professionals.

    1. He/she must have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent examination by recognised any Indian board or a duly constituted Board or National Open School with pass marks with minimum 50% in aggregate of physics, chemistry and biology (botany & zoology),
    2. Candidates who have studied abroad and have passed the equivalent qualification as determined by the Association of Indian Universities and Equivalence Committee of the NCAHP, and must fulfil the criteria as per points 1-3 above.
    3. He/she should have attained the age of 17 years as on - current year, as on the date of admission.
    4. He/she has to furnish at the time of submission of application form, a certificate of Physical fitness from an Authorized Medical Attendant to ascertain that the candidate does not have any physical disability as per the guideline mentioned below.
    5. Guidelines regarding admission of students with “Specified Disabilities” under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 with respect to admission in BPT Course
      1. The “Certificate of Disability” shall be issued in accordance with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2017 notified in the Gazette of India by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment [Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan)] on 15th June 2017.
      2. The extent of “specified disability” in a person shall be assessed in accordance with the “Guidelines for the purpose of assessing the extent of specified disability in a person included under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (49 of 2016)” notified in the Gazette of India by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment [Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan)] on 4th January 2018.
      3. The minimum degree of disability should be 40% (Benchmark Disability) in order to be eligible for availing reservation for persons with specified disability.
      4. The term ‘Persons with Disabilities’ (PwD) is to be used instead of the term ‘Physically Handicapped’ (PH).
      5. Quota/ reservation policy as per the State Government norms to be followed by the State Council as applicable during allotment of seats
      6. Candidate who fails to attend the Medical Examination on the notified date(s) will forfeit the claim for admission and placement in the waiting list except permitted by the competent authority under special circumstances.

  •  Program Overview :
  • The BSc-MPH (Integrated) program is a five-year full-time program. In this program, the students have an option to exit after 3 years with a BSc- Public Health degree. After 4 years, one can get BSc (Hons)-Public Health. A master degree, such as Master of Public Health (MPH) is awarded after 5 years of successful course work. Students also have options to pursue other postgraduate programs of the institution after completing 3 years of the course work.

    1. Candidates who have completed 12th grade in any stream/ group with a minimum of 55% of marks in aggregate are eligible for admission to MPH (Integrated) program. Candidates who have studied Sciences, Mathematics, Humanities and Social Sciences, Business and commerce-based electives, Visual; Performing and Creative Arts, Health and Physical Education, and General Studies can apply for admission.
    2. International Candidates must have completed 12 years of formal education equivalent to the India’s 10+2 system.

    Placement Opportunities:
    1. On completion of the BSc - MPH (Integrated) five-year program, the students can expect to begin their career as program officer or research officer in a national or international NGO, CSR initiatives, research organization, or government health department. Progressing in their careers, they ascend to state-level managers, eventually reaching national-level management positions. Some specialize in specific areas like Monitoring, Learning and Evaluation, Research, Community Mobilization, Advocacy, TB, HIV/AIDS, Family Planning, Gender Equity, Environmental Health, Health Communication, Health Economics, etc. Some students choose to pursue a Ph.D. and get into academia.
